More spring break stuff!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

On Thursday I got to hang out with Tim at the mall, b/c he was going to get a hair cut there anyway. I was really happy that I got to see him, cause he's been so busy with work this break and I thought that we wouldn't have the chance to do something together. It's been great catching up with people during break! ^ ^ I got a lot of stuff done at the mall - bought 5 pairs of shoes (Tim was appalled - thanks to him for helping me carry them though!), 2 pairs of earrings (b/c I lost one of my fave earrings recently *sniff*), and computer screen cleaner b/c my laptop screen is covered in fingerprints (uggh).  Later today (it;s right now Friday AM), I'm going to hang out with Letitia and buy her yaoi & stuff, cause I enjoy corrupting minors! *evil grin* Gotta head to bed now, ja ne!

Spring Break!!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
WaT

Yep, as the title states I'm on spring break and it feels sooooo good  *kimochi ii yo* ^_-  I got together with Chibi and Rei-chan on Saturday cause it was the only day we could hang out, so I'm glad we did. ^ ^  We did a lot of catching up, made onigiri (I am really addicted to those things, hehe), and I got a crash course in the Gargoyles TV series, courtesy of Rei-chan. Seriously, Gargoyles is a lot better (and the storyline is a heck of a lot more complicated *sweatdrop*) than I remember it to be. Let's watch some more episodes together this summer, Rei-chan!

Since Saturday though, I have been mostly lazing around, doing nothing but listening to jpop and reading fanfiction (my two main guilty pleasures ;^ ^). Darn it, what happened to my plans of being productive this break? Well, I did go to a dentist appointment, and no cavities, so yay! I keep meaning to read the 6th Harry Potter book, but I'm afraid I'm going to get sucked into it and it's going to devour the rest of my break. Let's see, what else - my NEWS (a Japanese boyband, what else :P ) calendar came in the mail on Monday, so I got to squee over all the bishie-ness. And I just dropped $38 for pre-ordering another boyband (KAT-TUN) CD b/c it's the limited edition and I KNOW it's going to sell out soon. Gaah, my expensive boyband obsession is taking over my expensive anime-buying habits - if it's not one money-draining obsession, it's another ^_- I still like anime, it's just that I'm not spending as much on it to make up for said boyband expenses. Eeep, keep your fingers crossed that I won't go broke anytime soon. XD

February 26th, 2007

Ahem, pardon my sarcasm. Ehhh, I know I'm bad at updating this ;;^ ^  But I've been busy!!! 2 weekends in a row of MUN conferences!!! - thank god that's all over. For the first one (2 weekends ago), I went up with my MUN club to Boston for a conference run by Harvard. IT WAS SOOO COLD UP THERE!!!  I don't think you can realize how much of a southerner you are until you go up north in the winter. Just walking 5 minutes from my hotel to the conference center was a horrible ordeal. Hehe, sorry for whining : P Williamsburg has its cold days, but lately it's been almost muggy. Of course, hearing that my house 2 hrs north of here got "snowed in" according to my parents (at least, there was a decent amount of snow anyways) kind of depresses me. I do like snow and wish there was more here .^ ^

While I was in Boston for the conference, I visited one of my two aunts who has had a baby recently (Yep, I have 2 new cousins in my family ^ ^).  I was really happy to see at least one of my 2 new cousins since we don't visit my mom's side of the family in the Massachusetts/Boston area that often (usually just once a year at Xmas), so it might not be until next Xmas that I see the new baby boy again (and when I finally get to see my new baby girl cousin). My cousin Sam was only 3 weeks old when I saw him and he was sooooo little!!! And kawaii too. *beams* It was really hard to see the color of his eyes for some reason....he hardly ever opened them, and when he did, they looked like some indiscernible mixture of blue, brown, and grey. My aunt told me that babies' eyes can change color up to six months after they're born (I did not know that!), so it might be awhile before we can know the color for sure. It was also kind of cute to see my aunt & uncle being hyperactive new parents and fussing so much over the baby. Everytime he cried, they would go, "Does he need to be changed? Does he need to eat more?" etc. etc. I remember my mom looking after Mark (her fourth one ^ ^ ) and she hardly ever fussed over him like that. It's not like she neglected him - rather, you definitely can tell when someone is not a new parent, b/c they don't go "OMG, OMG, what does he need?!" when their baby cries.^ ^  But like I said, my aunt and uncle are cute with their "new parent" behavior. : D Also, just seeing them & Sam reminded me of how much work babies are - within the hour of my visit he had to be changed once and fed 3 times!! So while I enjoy seeing other people's babies (and having new cousins ^ ^ ), I don't want one of my own anytime soon : P

February 6th, 2007

I need to go to bed early tonight b/c I have to work tomorrow! Yes, I have a job!! ~yay~ It's at my school library and it pays minimum wage and it's only 5 hours a week (I couldn't handle any more than that anyway :P), but it's a job nonetheless ^ ^ I already started on Friday actually, but I'm just nervous b/c I have to be there tomorrow @ 8:30 AM *sigh*. None of my classes start until 11 AM, so that is really early for me (kill me now, uggh). It's really easy though - basically I just search through the library catalog to see if titles have been entered into the system or not - I'd rather do this at minimum wage than slave away at Target for 2 bucks an hour more anyway. ^_-

Gomen, I haven't written anything about my classes in my LJ yet. Well, here's a list of them:

Japanese 102 - Japanese is starting to get harder now, but I'm happy, cause it means I'll learn more. And we're learning kanji at last!
Psychology -  Huge lecture class, but the teacher's pretty good at holding the class's attention, so it's not too boring. I like psychology as a subject, but the readings are way too long.
Statistics: Math, ugggh. Class isn't as boring as in high school, but I'm already behind on the homework *gulp*
Intro to International Relations: Class feels reaaaalllyyy long. (It's 1 hr 20 min but feels infinitely longer). The readings are okay and the teacher is not mean, but he's kind of intimidating ;;^ ^
Modern Japanese Lit: Pretty interesting, the book we're reading right now takes place around 1905 Japan, a period I don't know a lot about, so it's a fresh new perspective for me.  Lots of discussion, which is good.

In other news: I'm now the kendo club treasurer! (More responsibilities - can I handle it?)

Oyasumi!

All Moved In

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

I'm finally in my dorm today and all settled in. It was pretty tiring unpacking and sorting everything, since I definitely came back with more stuff than I left college with, hehe. I picked up all of my textbooks at the bookstore today too.  Classes aren't until Wednesday, so all I really have to do tomorrow is go over my schedule and figure out where all my classes are.  I started watching my new House M.D. dvds (got the first and second season on dvd for Xmas ^ ^) with my roomie, since she's a fan too. I love the snarkiness of the character House and the rest of the cast, but there is a lot of gross medical stuff in the episodes (like needles...*shivers*) that have me covering my eyes. : P Seriously, there's a reason I've never even considered medical school. ^_-

SNOWED IN!!!!!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

I was supposed to drive back to college today with my parents, so we packed up the car, headed down the street.....and decided to turn around and come back, lol. It was because of the snow, believe it or not. ^ ^ There's not a lot of snow outside, but the roads were really icy and slippery. We drove only about a couple of miles, and saw about 2 accidents. Man, it was crazy out there. So anyway, all of my stuff is still sitting in the car, and tomorrow morning we'll try to go out again. I don't have classes until Wednesday, but my parents wanted to take me on Sunday when they didn't have anything else to do. Ah well, another night at home. ^ ^ That means I have no excuse to procrastinate on the essay that I need to write in order to apply for the Japanese dorm house. Ack, I feel so guilty for procrastinating on this b/c I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to live in the Japanese dorm next year. I just have no inspiration to write the essay. ;;^ ^  It will just come out sounding bland, like "I want to live in the Japanese house b/c I love Japanese culture, blah blah blah." It's not due until next Monday, but I had the whole break to write it and I never did. *guilt guilt* Where's a darn muse when you need one?

January 17th, 2007

Wow, my family received such a generous gift today - a friend of our family gave us a PS3!!! Yeah, I don't play videogames (with the exception of DDR when certain people coerce me : P), so why I am I so excited about this? Because it's the Japanese version of the PS3, which means it can play Japanese (region 2) dvds!!!! I've been wanting a region-free or region 2 dvd player since forever so that I can buy and play the region 2 Japanese dvds that don't work on region 1 US dvd players, and now I finally can!!  I just own a couple of region 2 jpop music dvds, so I tried them and they work - yay! The good thing is that the actual games on the PS3 are region-free, so my siblings can still buy US PS3 games and they'll work on it. The only downside is that US PS2 games don't work on the Japanese version, so we still have to use our PS2 for all of our old PS2 games.  I don't have much money now to spend on Japanese dvds T__T, but when I do I'm going to buy a whole ton ^ ^  Oh yeah, Rei-chan *waves*, when Gedo Senki comes out on dvd in Japan, I'll get it so we can watch it. : D   A lot of Japanese movies nowadays are being released w/english subtitles, so let's hope for that *crosses fingers*. Either that, or at least we'll get to stare at the pretty Ghibli-ness ^_-

January 15th, 2007

Ummm yeah, it's me.....I still plan to write in my LJ, darnnit!  ^_-  It's one of my (many, many) New Years resolutions, I swear! >_<

Okay, easy topic: What I Did Over My Xmas Break ~which isn't officially over yet~

-went to Massachusetts the weekend before Xmas, saw family (including 2 very pregnant aunts ^ ^), fun times
-spent way too much time on the internet (Japanese boyband fiction, you eat my SOUL!!! *sweatdrop*)
-hung out with Tim, ate gyros (starting to become a tradtion ^ ^ ), and watched Japanese TV drama "Anego", sparking conversations about the discrimination single Japanese woman face today, woot!
-ate at a Japanese steak house and saw fireworks ~in the rain~ w/ Matt, Chibi, Rei-chan, & Letitia (ok, Letitia had to miss the fireworks) --> awesome super New Years, yay!!!
-saw Happily Never After w/too many friends to name, movie wasn't great BUT it had a bishie (that servant guy Rick ^ ^ ), so it wasn't toooo bad, hehe
-Kat and Jane came to visit me (ok, and to get visas too ^ ^), and we we braved the DC metro, whee!  We went to the Smithsonian and starred at jewels and cute stuffed animals (the real kind of stuffed animals, lol), and then watched My Neighbor Totoro (which I hadn't seen before *shock*) at home.
-went to Anime Club, saw all my former minions *ahem* I mean, members, then watched anime @ home w/Chibi and made onigiri *yum*
-had Rei-chan and Chibi over and forced them to watch watched "King and the Clown," because it had pretty gay jesters ^ ^
-bought 3 Japanese boyband magazines on impulse, which I regret >_< except for the issue with everyone shirtless
-haven't gone through barely any of the manga/anime/cds I dragged from the dorm to home, now I'll just have to drag them back again *feels guilty*
-wrote stupid position paper for MUN, ugggg, work over break *sigh*
-watched more episodes of "Winter Sonata," very melodramatic Korean TV drama, lots of weepy angst
-got hair highlighted with blonde streaks --> (slightly) new look for me, yay!

Well, that's all I can think of. I only have a week of break left, oh noeeeeesss!!! : P

November 29th, 2006

Yeesh, I just realized that LJ tends to lock people's journals if they don't write in them for more than 30 days, so here I am writing! Gosh, I wish I wasn't so bad at this > > Well, I've got class in an hour, so I'm just gonna make a list of what I want to write about  soon ^ ^ (hehe, I'm such a cheater):

-my birthday, Nekocon, and hanging out with Kat that weekend!!
-stupid MUN conference I had to help out at this month
-ANIME USA!!! : D
-my growing interest/unhealthy obsession with Japanese boybands *sweatdrop*
-how I can't stop spending money (somebody please help me!!!! *_*)
-Thanksgiving
-school crap

Yep, that's most of it.

Happy Bday to me ^ ^

WaT

I just wanted to do a quickie post before midnight so that I can count this as my OFFICIAL BIRTHDAY POST *huzzah*  Now I am officially 19 and.....officially more legal :P And for lack of exciting things to say, I am posting pics of one of my favorite jpop idols/objects of lust, Eiji Wentz, celebrating his own bday in October. Wentz is a half-Japanese/half German-American singer in the Japanese boyband WaT, which I adore. And now on to the fangirling ^_^

Blaaaaaarh, schoolwork, blaaarrrh, incoherent, blaaarrrh. Too much crap to do, and I spent most of the night doing stuff that wasn't even for school (newspaper layout crap). I have two papers and two midterm tests this week- kill me now ^ ^ My only ray of hope is looking forward to this weekend when I can go home and snuggle Maisy and be with my friends (yay!)

Sooooo behind

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
jin bath

I am so behind on all of my schoolwork- I have a paper due this Thursday that I still need to do research on, a paper due the week after that, and midterms!!! Sunday was kind of shot cause I was trying to do a sample layout page for the school newspaper (which I was supposed to have finished and still haven't turned in).  I like writing articles for the school newspaper (in fact, I just turned in my first one this Friday), but layout is too time-consuming and suuuuucks! *whine whine*  So hopefully they will see how lazy I am about this and kick me off layout duty (*rubs palms* - that's the master plan!)

This weekend was still fun though, since it was Parents Weekend, and everyone (minus Matt) came to visit me. We walked through Colonial Williamsburg ( I never do the "colonial thing" unless someone is visiting me- even though the attractions are practically right outside my dorm :P) and then my family went out to eat at a Japanese steak house- yum! I even tried octopus for the first time, hehe. It was really gross cause you could still see the sucker-thingies on the meat, but it actually doesn't taste that bad once you forget about those suckers. ^ ^  Considering what a picky eater I am, I really need to acclimate my taste buds to Japanese food before I actually visit, or I'm gonna starve there.  Minna-san, wish me luck in this!!

On another note, I changed all my of LJ user pics .^ ^  Unnnn, I really want to get a paid account with at least 30 pics so I don't have to keep changing my pics all the time after I get sick of them. Finding user pics to use on LJ  is soooo addictive!!! Eeee, it's all part of LJ's evil plan to part me from my money!!!

Early Halloween!!!

Hmm, I should be doing my Japanese homework now or writing that article for the school newspaper.....but instead I'm going to procrastinate and pimp one of my favorite jpop artists instead.  ^ ^  Tommy heavenly6 just released a new single for Halloween and it's so fricken' awesome!!!! I went ahead and uploaded the music video for her single on youtube myself (my youtube user name is RabbitRevolution) since it doesn't seem that any one else has done that yet.  This is actually the short version of her music video - the longer version (which will be released soon) will be exactly 10 minutes and 31 seconds long (get it? 10/31 for Halloween :D ).  f you guys really like her, I can recommend some more of her videos (like I said, she's one of my fave artists ^_^ ).

I'm going to use this procrastination entry to talk about kendo too! Well the good news is that my arms don't hurt so much from swinging the shinai anymore- but I do have icky blisters on my feet T T (we spend all of practice sliding around the gym floor in our bare feet). We've also progressed to actually hitting our teacher on the head (he has a helmet on, of course :P). It's called the "men strike" and it's awesome way to get out all that aggression ^ ^

Gotta actually attempt to my homework- ja ne!

Happy Bday to Chibi!!!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Ok, Chibi's bday was actually on Monday (and I did remember it  ^ ^ ), but it doesn't hurt to wish her happy birthday again. It was a good excuse for me to call her. I miss Chibi, Rei-chan (*waves*), Tim (*waves*), and my other friends from home sooo much. I am making good friends here, but they won't replace you guys, promise!  I actually don't miss my family that much- I'm kind of a cold-hearted person in that regard, I suppose > > I do miss Maisy a lot though ( I want to cuddle my puppy!)

Hmm, not much else to report though. This week is much better than last week- thanks for your support everyone! *hugs*  I feel much better now- although I think my roomie caught my sickness *guilt guilt* After missing last practice I'm back at kendo again, although I gotta spend major bucks to buy the kendo uniform T_T At least it'll look really cool ^ ^

Oh yeah, in case anyone has been wondering where a bunch of my LJ icons come from, they were taken from this music video:

Tackey & Tsubasa
"Ho! Summer"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XypkX4_yJ2w

No, they don't mean that kind of ho. : P I think it's supposed to be the "Land ho!" meaning or an abbreviated way of saying "hot" (cause the Japanese can get lazy like that ^_-).  Tackey & Tsubasa are a Japanese boy band, and bishie as all get-out, so it doesn't really matter what silly words they sing anyway. ^ ^  The video did actually come out during summer, so go watch it before it becomes even more autumn-y than it already is.  (Goodbye Summer!! *sniffs*)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Yeah, Wednesday was not a good day and Thursday (err, I guess today ) isn't looking good either. I've get a philosophy quiz at 11 AM and a paper I still haven't finished due by 3:30 pm today. Hehe, I know Kat and Tim will say, "Welcome to college life!" ^ ^;;  I guess I'm just complaining because I have a cold and feel lousy, but I don't want to take any more medicine cause I might fall asleep and I have so much to do! Oh yeah, today was also bad cause I was a klutz and tripped over something, resulting in bruised toes that really hurt, so I was limping around all day (yeah, I'm such a baby :P) to my classes. But I'm going to talk about some good things so this entry isn't all about whining! Ok, let's see- I saw Densha Otoko at the Japanese Culture Club today ^ ^ It's a Japanese live-action TV series about an otaku who tries to win the heart of a beautiful girl.  Any series that makes me LMAO and cry all in the first episode is lurv. I have to go download the rest sometime. And, I was really happy that there were chow mein noodles at the salad bar today! They never have chow mein noodles, even though they are my absolute favorite part of any salad.  Seriously, I survived off cookies and salads with chow mein noodles at the Japanese governor's academy one summer- that's how much chow mein noodles mean to me XD Ah man, if I've started babbling about chow mein noodles that means I really need to get back to my work *sweatdrop*

September 10th, 2006

Whee, it's Sunday night and I haven't done any of my homework for this weekend- uggggh, I don't want to do it! So I'm writing this entry instead ^ ^  Let's see- this week I went to a bunch of club meetings. I made it to one Kendo practice (had to miss the first one though). It's pretty cool. Newbies like me mostly focus on their footwork (i.e. shuffling around a lot) and some sword swings. We won't spar for quite awhile, and that's perfectly fine with me ^ ^ I watched the older students spar, and it basically involves running towards your opponent while yelling at the top of your lungs, and then whacking said opponent with your sword in a place that's bound to hurt (i.e. shoulders or top of his/her head). Yeah, kendo is  nowhere near as graceful, as say, fencing. ^ ^  If you spar you do wear a ton of armor, so I guess it's not that bad.  I want to go to at least a few more practices to see if I want to stick with it.

Friday was anime club.  It's actually a pretty good day for a meeting, since it means we can watch 3 hours of anime and not worry about homework. Everyone had to introduce themselves and state their favorite weapon. My favorite weapon was "My extensive yaoi collection." :P But it's true! It certainly makes most guys run away when you mention it ^_^

Oh yeah, and I also saw two awesome movies this weekend. Friday the Southeast Student Association was screening a Bollywood movie, "Dil Chahta Hai." It was really cheesy in some parts (especially during the song/dance numbers), but I also cried through half of it because it was that touching. I wanna see more Bollywood films now!! Plus, on Saturday I finally got to see Brokeback Mountain. I've been wanting to see it for forever! It was really beautiful and sad. Although I have to agree with my friend Pam that they grunt waaaay to much in that movie- even during the *ahem* "non-intimate" scenes. And so you can't understand half of what Ennis and Jack are saying. Someone should have told the moviemakers that grunting isn't that sexy.  ^ ^ Yep, and that was my weekend!

I haven't been posting in the last couple of days because nothing much has been happening *yawn* I did watch the Final Fantasy: Advent Children movie this weekend- OMGCloudissoooohot&whycan'thebeREALdammit! Yes Cloud is my new bishie- my other friends here are really into Sephiroth, but it's "I am Teh Emo" Cloud all the way for me ^ ^

In other news, I keep feeling really, really tired even though my classes don't start until 11 AM and I sleep in as late as possible. Hmm, maybe I should try going to bed earlier than 3 AM though *ponders* Ah heck, once an insomniac, always an insomniac :P Though this sleepiness has caused me to take lots of naps, and my friends who have seen me sleeping have commented that I sleep with my eyes half-closed. This apparently looks kind of freaky, like I'm in a coma or something o_O  That would be actually kind of cool if I could see things while I'm sleeping, since I have my eyes half-open- I  could go all ninja on unsuspecting people, mwahaha. But unfortunately it doesn't work out this way- I make a pretty lame ninja *hangs head*  ^_-

NO SCHOOL!

School was canceled because of the hurricane today! (okay, well technically yesterday cause I'm writing in the Sat am) Whee! Of course, I only have one class on Fridays anyway (nee, I'm lucky ^_- ),  but it was still cool. My roomie and I slept in until an embarrassingly late hour and then just hung around the dorm most of the day.  The cafeteria wasn't open until 4:30 this afternoon, so we went to a  coffee shop and had overpriced (but yummy) food.  Walking around in the rain gets tiring after awhile though. It's been so weird here- it was hot as hades during orientation and I was always soaking with sweat.....and now I'm always soaking from actual water from all of the rain we've been getting. It's been raining the past couple of days, though it was only just today that the wind started howling and things got a little scary for awhile. Luckily it's all calmed down now. I even got out to the DaVinci Code movie that was showing at the University Center tonight.  It's an awesome movie that I've been meaning to see for awhile, and am glad that I finally did.

Now I just need to figure out what am going to do tomorrow besides sleep in (again). I don't have much homework, and I have a feeling that I'm gonna be rather booooored.

First day of classes

Just so I won't break my newly acquired posting habit, I'm doing a quick entry.  Wheeee, today was the first day of classes! I got everywhere on time, go me! Having only three classes a day feels so different from high school. Japanese class looks like it'll move pretty slowly, but that's fine with me. Asian cinema's gonna involve a lot of writing, but luckily the teacher will help us a lot because it's a freshmen seminar, so hopefully I'll be able to improve my sucky academic writing. We get to make a short film for the class too- go interactive stuff! The asian govt class is definitely covering some interesting stuff, and I actually found it pretty easy to participate in this class, so it might go very well. I also auditioned today and didn't make a complete fool of myself, so I'm happy. Plus, I finally got my books today. And that's all for tonight!!! Oyasumi!

Wow, I'm starting to become regular about posting to this thing. Hehe, it's thanks to Rei-chan (don't want to tell her to get an LJ and then never post ^ ^;; ).  Well, I hope noting this doesn't jinx me and make me a lax poster again. Although I've discovered that it's kind of relaxing at night to sit in my dorm and whine on LJ about my day :P (and talk about the good things too, of course  ^_-
